Excel import with hyperlinks

Hello Experts,

I would like to import an excel sheet data into DOORS module. The data in excel sheet has some external links. I tried few options but ended in vain. Is it possible to import the data with existing hyperlinks in doors module? I am not aware weather this option is available in DOORS. Kindly clarify on this.

Ashok

DOORS will try to automatically recognize hyperlinks in string/text attributes. So everything that starts with http:// or ftp:// etc. should automatically be shown as a hyperlink. DOORS does as far as I know not support alternate text for a hyperlink (i.e. show a different text than the URL) or hyperlinks that have a different protocol prefix (e.g. svn://, etc.) than the supported prefixes. You can find a list of supported prefixes in the user manual.

For your import that means, you can only import hyperlinks if the URL is displayed in the text and it has a supported protocol prefix. Other hyperlinks will probably be just converted to normal text by the usual import scripts. Maybe that helps, Regards, Mathias
